Wild weather set to hit the South West

THE Department of Fire and Emergency Services is warning South West residents to take action and stay safe with severe weather on its way.

The Bureau of Meteorology has advised a developing strong cold front and low could produce severe weather conditions across the South West from late tomorrow morning through to early in the afternoon.

The worst weather is expected south-west of a line from Busselton to Windy Harbour.

The strong cold front and deep low may produce damaging winds to 100km/h that could result in damage to homes and property.

Dangerous gusts in excess of 125km/h are possible in some areas, while there is a chance of thunderstorms and small hail with the passage of the front.

DFES advised the weather was not unusual for this time of year, but could damage homes and make driving dangerous.

The front is expected to be windier than a typical front and is likely to produce the kind of weather only seen about five times a year.

A warning has been issued for sheep graziers for the entire South West Land Division.
