Women from across the South West came together at the Sanctuary Golf Resort to raise money and show support for Dot’s Place at the Rando and Associates Women’s Health and Wellness Day on Friday.

The fourth annual event aimed to raise $10,000 through tickets sales, silent auctions and raffles.

Fremantle Dockers women’s team coach Michelle Cowan and breast cancer survivor Andrea Deane were special guest speakers at the event, with other entertainment including a fashion show, Zumba demonstrations and shopping stalls.

Rando and Associates client services manager Maddi Nuske said she was pleased to see the event grow bigger and better each year.

“It was Michelle’s second year back and we have already got ladies saying we should have her again for a third year,” she said. “We had a lot of positive feedback about Andrea too, because she has a great story to tell and people now know what she is trying to do with her separate goal of getting a 3D imaging machine here in Bunbury.”

Miss Nuske said raising awareness about getting regular checks was just as important as raising money for the worthy charity.

“Shenae Norris from Dot’s Place highlighted the importance of getting checked in her speech,” she said.

“She thought that if someone could take something away from Friday, it was for those ladies to make sure that they have had their checks done and mammograms if they are in the age bracket where it is quite important.”
