Worthington stars in loss

Bunbury-raised basketballer Mark Worthington top-scored for the Cairns Taipans with 22 points in their loss to the Sydney Kings on Friday night at the Cairns Convention Centre.

Worthington also grabbed six rebounds and dished off four assists, but could not get his side over the line, as they lost 86-78 to the star-studded visitors.

Teammate and fellow Bunbury basketballer Cameron Gliddon also had a solid night, scoring 12 points while also grabbing three rebounds and three assists.

Gliddon averages just over 11 points a game throughout the season, while Worthington has been in solid form, averaging more than 10 points a game as well as more than five rebounds and three assists.

The Taipans are sitting seventh on the National Basketball League ladder.
