Man dies in hospital 11 days after alleged assault in WA’s south

A Manjimup man has lost his fight for life just 11 days after he was allegedly assaulted in WA’s south.

According to police, the 56-year-old was placed in an induced coma after he was allegedly attacked in a carpark on the South Western Highway, less than 20km south of Donnybrook, on July 14.

Police will allege the man was attacked by a shirtless man between 8.30pm and 9.30pm.

He suffered serious head injuries and was flown to Royal Perth Hospital.

Sadly police confirmed the man died in hospital on Tuesday.

A 24-year-old Kirup man has been charged with one count of causing grievous bodily harm and one count of criminal damage.

According to police, the first charge could be upgraded pending the results of a post-mortem.
