Terrifying unit fire causes late-night evacuation at on Walter Road West in Inglewood

A terrifying scene unfolded as a fire tore through a Perth inner-city unit overnight.

Emergency crews responded to the out-of-control fire on Walter Road West in Inglewood about 11pm on Wednesday.

Department of Fire and Emergency Services firefighters put out the blaze before it could take hold of adjoining properties, which were evacuated in the chaos.

St John Ambulance treated a resident at the scene but no one was taken to hospital.

The cause of the fire is not suspicious.
