Tragic Ashendon crash leaves driver dead and car ablaze

A man has died in a horror crash in Perth’s south-east yesterday afternoon that left the driver’s car ablaze.

The man was driving a gold Mitsubishi Magna sedan north on Albany Highway in Ashendon about 2.55pm when the car veered off the road and crashed into trees near Honey Myrtle Road.

Members of the public managed to drag the 25-year-old driver from the car before it caught fire.

However, the man received critical injuries in the crash and died at the scene.

He was the only occupant of the car.
