Perth is being handed one last taste of sunshine before winter swings back into action, with a run of showers set to kick off August and stick around for much of next week.
After waking to a chilly 6.2C on Friday, the city is headed for a pleasant top of 21C under mostly sunny skies.
But don’t pack away the umbrella.
The Bureau of Meteorology says there is a chance of a late shower before a weak cold front moves through overnight, knocking Saturday’s maximum back to just 17C.
The showers should clear early, setting up another crisp, sunny day on Sunday with a top of 19C after a brisk 5C start.
But the return to blue skies will be brief, with another front expected to brush Perth late on Monday.
A wet weather pattern will then settle over the south-west of WA, with showers forecast on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Wednesday could even bring the chance of a thunderstorm.
Tuesday shapes as the wettest day of the week, with a high chance of at least 4mm of rain and a medium chance of 9mm or more.
The unsettled spell comes after a relatively dry July, with weather models suggesting a shift towards more frequent cold fronts during August.
