
Emergency services have issued a storm advice after large parts of WA awoke to rainy skies.
The Bureau of Meteorology has warned West Aussies of a wild weekend filled with rain and thunderstorms as a powerful cold front barrels across the State through Friday and Saturday.
Perth is expected to receive at least 15mm of rain through Friday, which could potentially grow to 25mm if conditions worsen.
The rainfall will continue through the weekend, with the predicted downpour of between 15mm and 25mm likely to damper weekend plans.
The Department of Fire and Emergency Services has issued a storm advice for the metropolitan and South West areas over the heavy rain and storms.
“You need to be aware of potential hazards that remain after the storm has passed,” the alert reads.
The advice warning is currently in place throughout Friday and Saturday.
Residents are urged to be careful around fallen trees or damaged buildings, and are encouraged to contact the SES on 132 500 in the case of significant damage.
A severe thunderstorm warning issued overnight by the Bureau has since been cancelled.

A marine wind warning is in effect for the metropolitan and South West regions.
Residents between Geraldton and Esperance have been issued a strong wind warning from Friday morning, with experts warning that the wind will reach speeds between 48kmh and 60kmh.
Strong wind warnings will stay in place through Saturday for Perth, Geraldton, Lancelin, Albany and Esperance.
As of Friday morning, the cold front has already resulted in a deluge of rainfall pouring across WA.
Cape Leeuwin was officially the wettest part of the State on Friday morning, with the Bureau recording a staggering 29mm of rain over the South West landmark overnight.
In the metropolitan area, Swanbourne in Perth’s west took the crown for most rainfall of the morning — with weather stations stating that the suburb received 21.8mm of rain before 9am.
Ihe Mid West, Geraldton received 27.4mm of rainfall overnight, according to the bureau’s airport weather station.
The heavy rainfall comes during an unusually warm stretch of winter weather, with temperatures reaching above average for most of this week.
The last week of June is sure to make up for the recent sunshine however — with rain and cold temperatures anticipated to linger until Thursday.
