Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is facing fresh fury after a new claim alleged he used a “disgusting” slur against a physically disabled man.
Reports of the disgraced former prince’s poor behaviour prior to his February 19 arrest have been widely circulating amid the fallout of Epstein scandal, which saw him stripped of his title.
Mr Mountbatten-Windsor was taken into custody on his 66th birthday on suspicion of misconduct regarding his time as trade envoy, which is the period of time the new allegation is thought to have taken place.
Tom Bower, a royal author, has spoken out on Express UK’s Daily Expresso podcast, detailing the alleged disturbing incident.
Speaking about his new book Betrayal, Mr Bower said the ex-duke was addressing a room full of UK businessmen at a lunch in Warsaw, Poland, when the outburst took place.
“In my book, I’ve got a story which hasn’t been picked up, but I think it’s actually indicative of Andrew,” he told host JJ Anisiobi.
“He was in Warsaw as a trade representative and was addressing a bunch of British businessmen, a large lunch.
“And the deputy ambassador came in to tell him that he was urgently wanted on the phone. Now, the deputy ambassador had a club foot, which was very noticeable. He had a huge physical deformity.”
After observing the man’s limb difference, Mr Mountbatten-Windsor purportedly yelled out an insult hinged on a slur.
“And Andrew screamed across the room at him, ‘What the f*** are you cripple doing (sic), coming to interrupt me?’”
Mr Bower said the incident was a clear demonstration of the former prince’s character.
“I mean, that was unbelievable. And that is the way that Andrew behaved. A really shocking, shocking, selfish, stupid man. And he landed himself in problems of his own making.”
It’s not the first time insiders have made claims about Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s poor treatment of others.
Another royal author has since revealed a hurtful insult the former prince is understood to have lobbed at his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson.
Tina Brown, author of The Palace Papers and former editor of Vanity Fair, said the ex-duke once insulted Ms Ferguson’s appearance in front of a media executive.
She writes that in 2015, when the former couple met with the unnamed person, Mr Mountbatten-Windsor called Ms Ferguson a “fat cow”.
Ms Brown said the incident occurred within the Royal Lodge itself. Ms Ferguson was seated with the US executive when her ex-husband walked into the room and said: “What are you doing with this fat cow?”
According to Ms Brown, the executive who witnessed the insult said they were “stunned” at the then-prince’s “level of sadism”, The Mirror reported.
“I thought, ‘What an a...hole.’ She has to sing for her supper. She’s afraid of him,” the source said.
