Karoline Leavitt: White House press secretary announces pregnancy, expecting second child, thanks Donald Trump

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has announced she is expecting her second child, giving thanks to US President Donald Trump for his support.
Ms Leavitt, 28, is married to Nicholas Riccio, 60. The two wed in January 2025, just days before Mr Trump’s second presidential inauguration.
The couple, who have an age gap of 32 years, already share one child, also named Nicholas, who was born in July 2024.
“The greatest Christmas gift we could ever ask for - a baby girl coming in May 2026,” Ms Leavitt wrote on Instagram. “My husband and I are thrilled to grow our family and can’t wait to watch our son become a big brother.
“My heart is overflowing with gratitude to God for the blessing of motherhood, which I truly believe is the closest thing to Heaven on Earth.”
Turning to her Republican colleagues in the White House, Ms Leavitt shared a person thanks to Mr Trump. “I am also extremely grateful to President Trump and our Chief of Staff Susie Wiles for their support, and for fostering a pro-family environment in the White House,” she wrote.
“2026 is going to be a great year and I am so excited to be a girl mom!”
Ms Leavitt has not shared details about any planned maternity leave yet.
When the Trump supporter had her first child, she cut her maternity leave short following the attempt on Mr Trump’s life at a Butler rally.
Ms Leavitt and Mr Riccio met in 2022 during her campaign to run for a seat in Congress.
“A mutual friend of ours hosted an event at a restaurant that he owns up in New Hampshire and invited my husband,” she told The Megyn Kelly Show.
“I was speaking. We met and we were acquainted as friends.”
