There is no place like home for Brisbane who celebrated their long-awaited Nissan Arena return with a 93-70 NBL thumping of THE Sydney Kings that kept their bold finals plans on track.

After a gruelling nine-game road trip, the Bullets began a welcome run of five straight home matches against last season's grand finalists on Thursday that looks set to decide their top four fate.

All five home games are against opponents sitting above the sixth-placed Bullets on the ladder.

And Brisbane made the most of their first Nissan Arena clash since March 27, making the Kings pay for woeful shooting to move within a win of the top four with a 13-14 overall record.

While defending champions Perth and Melbourne United appear to have nailed down the top two, the make-up of the rest of the finalists is up in the air after Brisbane closed the gap on third-placed South East Melbourne Phoenix (15-14), No.4-ranked Sydney (14-15) and Illawarra Hawks (14-14) who are fifth.

Brisbane have nine games remaining this season.

While the Bullets were impressive at both ends, the Kings were their own worst enemy, shooting at just 31 per cent from the field and 6-35 from three point range.

Bullets star Anthony Drmic dropped a career high 28 points including 7-10 shooting from three-point range while classy guard Nathan Sobey had 19 and import BJ Johnson finished with 12 points in his second game for Brisbane after stepping in for the injured Vic Law.

Xavier Cooks (six points, three rebounds from 11 minutes) showed encouraging signs in his first game of the year for Sydney after finally overcoming a foot injury.

But import Casper Ware (six points, 3-12 from the field) failed to fire in his 150th NBL game as the Kings slumped to three straight losses for the first time this season.

Jordan Hunter had 15 points and 11 rebounds for Sydney.

It marked only Brisbane's third win in 14 games against Sydney who suffered their second 20-plus loss in three matches.

The result was ultimately decided in the second term.

Brisbane went on a stunning 19-0 run while the visitors were restricted to just 10 points for the second quarter, shooting at 22 per cent from the field including 1-16 from three point range to trail 52-27 at halftime.
