Fremantle have achieved a perfect 10, with the Dockers breaking the club record for the most victories in a row on a memorable night at home against St Kilda.
Fremantle, who adopted the name Walyalup against a St Kilda team that was known as Euro-Yroke, had the 53,707 home crowd in raptures after running over the top of the Saints in the final quarter to win 16.8 (104) to 11.8 (74)
The Dockers looked vulnerable entering the game after losing key players due to injury with Alex Pearce, Hayden Young, Caleb Serong, Sean Darcy and Jaeger O’Meara all watching from the sidelines.
But the forward line remained in tact and it was Fremantle’s big dogs who made the real difference.
Josh Treacy was enormous. He had 19 disposals, took 11 marks, kicked two goals, laid huge tackles and every time the Dockers looked troubled, he produced the answer.
Jye Amiss kicked three goals and had a hand in others and Pat Voss was huge. He did a great negative job on Callum Wilkie while also being an attacking force with three goals.
Throw in Murphy Reid who had 20 touches and kicked a goal in the second half, Isaiah Dudley and Michael Frederick, and the Dockers had too much talent forward of centre.

The Dockers won nine games in a row under Ross Lyon in 2015 and you just knew he would have a plan to avoid them setting a new record against him.
St Kilda started well. Marcus Windhager stayed close to Shai Bolton and Reid as they rotated through the centre square. The Saints were controlling clearances early, that gave them field position and they could have easily pulled clear by a significant early margin.
The were applying immense pressure on the Dockers every time they won the ball, kicked the first two goals of the day, missed another shot on the run and had two attempts that didn’t even score.
It took Fremantle 15 minutes to settle but then their key forwards stepped up. Voss found Amiss on the lead and Fremantle had their first goal. Treacy then took an impressive mark and kicked another. Voss kicked Fremantle’s third from a free kick.

But St Kilda’s pressure remained high and it created another goal before Mason Wood kicked their fourth to set up a six-point lead at quarter time.
That pressure was evident at the start of the second term too as a turnover led to Mattaes Phillipou kicking a major. Then Fremantle’s key forward Mafia stepped up.
The Dockers have made a habit out of kicking goals in bursts this season and they hit the front with three goals in seven minutes. Two came through Amiss and one through Voss as the midfield started finding more space.
Mistakes proved costly though as a 50m penalty eased the pressure on St Kilda’s defenders and then Karl Worner got penalised for a deliberate rushed behind. When Wood followed up with another goal, St Kilda was eight points up.
Fremantle didn’t deserve to lose that quarter though and a brilliant left foot snap from Frederick meant they trailed by only one point at the long break.
The Dockers fixed their clearance problems in the second term and every stat pointed to the game being as even as the scoreboard.

Fremantle lifted a gear during the third quarter as the big men continued to have an impact. Voss’ big tackle on Byrnes led to a goal to Sam Switkowski.
Amiss copped an arm chop free kick and the umpire bizarrely allowed an advantage play to continue after he called time-on and Dudley’s kick bounced through.
Treacy just kept working. He was everywhere. The star forward took marks in the backline when the Dockers needed a get-out target, he laid brutal tackles and set the standard for his team. Treacy was gasping for air after another huge effort right on the three quarter time siren.

The ball lived in Fremantle’s forward half but Lyon teams know how to defend and counter attack. They held firm for a long time and then made the Dockers pay whenever they made mistakes.
Fremantle led by one goal with a quarter to play. The record was within touching distance.
But you knew the Saints would keep coming. They hit the lead just three minutes into the final term and now the challenge was in front of the Dockers.
Guess who answered the call. It was Treacy again. His second goal from his 10th mark put Fremantle back in front.

Reid nailed a brilliant long range goal that got the crowd pumped up and that made the equation tough for the Saints.
Fremantle just needed to get a big enough break. Dudley crumbed beautifully for one and when Amiss kicked his fourth, the game was all over and the Dockers had their record.
All that was left was for a Sir Doug Nicholls Round moment. Bolton gave the crowd two. A specky at one end and a brilliant goal at the other that had him dancing. Dockers fans will be dancing all weekend. Ten wins in a row has given them every reason to celebrate.
