An outstanding second season has come undone in September as the 2025 Rising Star still seems to be struggling after his groin injury. Has all the talent but has been unusually timid in the three finals and will be hoping to get past the mental block this weekend.

Was in serious danger of missing out on finals before Brennan Cox’s injury. Will be crucial to curtail Brisbane’s elite small forward crop, where he will need all his wits about him.

The most experienced finals player for the Dockers, Cox will bring plenty of passion and invaluable support for Luke Jackson. Has shown at times his ability to clunk some big marks but runs hot and cold.

A confidence player who can fire up the team, Voss put three abject quarters behind him agaisnt Sydney to kick a massive goal and find his moment. Loves playing at the MCG where he has 15 goals from three games while he could also play a shutdown role on Harris Andrews.

Struggled on Logan McDonald but did a fine job curtainling Charlie Curnow after making the swtich. Should never have been in danger of losing his spot.

A career-best season from the underrated defender who will have a big role on the likes of Charlie Cameron and Kai Lohmann. Labelled as the most courageous player in the team by Caleb Serong, Worner won’t be overawed by the challenge.

Finals: 6
Hasn’t torn apart this finals series with four goals from the three finals and will want to find more ways to stay involved. But does not need many touches to hurt you, averaging a goal every 3.7 disposals.
25. Alex Pearce

With the absence of Brennan Cox, Pearce will likely start with the job on Logan Morris but could switch, as we saw against Sydney where he moved onto Logan McDonald in the second half, if someone else gets off the chain. Brings an air of calmness to the Freo backline, which they will need with Brisbane likely to find a surge at some point.
26. Hayden Young

Played the best game of his season in the preliminary to suggest he his hitting top form at the perfect time after another season spent with injury troubles. Can swing forward when needed and is one of the best midfield users by foot.
28. Neil Erasmus

A breakout year having recommitted to the Dockers at the end of last year despite struggling to stay in the team. Has played every game this season mainly on the wing but can rotate through the midfield. Could also be given a defensive role on one of Brisbane’s midfield stars around stoppage.

With wet weather forecast, Frederick could be crucial to crumb off Fremantle’s tall timber. Has the potential to burn defenders with his pace but has played mainly a supporting role this season rather than pure linebreaker.

Got a finals lifeline as Nathan O’Driscoll fell out of favour with his utility; his best asset is being able to run defensively or through the midfield, and he is their most likely tagger, though he may struggle for pace against the speedier small forwards.

A fairytale ending is on the cards, with his 131st and final AFL game to be a grand final. Unusually for just the second time this season, he did not record a tackle in last week’s prelim, but his forward pressure will be crucial to stop the Lions surging out of defence.

From SSP signing to a grand final in just two years, Dudley has become a reliable goal sneak with 32 majors this year and was one of Freo’s best against Sydney. His pace and small size add a dynamism to Freo’s forward line.

Finals: 3
Another who has had a breakout year after missing finals last year due to an ankle injury. While still largely on the wing, Johnson has upped his inside game and can move forward and behind the ball, averaging a career-high 17.5 disposals.
