VideoFremantle Dockers coach Justin Longmuir is on a rolling contract despite leading his team to 11 consecutive wins and top position in the AFL ladder.

Fremantle midfielder Hayden Young is on track to make an AFL return against North Melbourne as the club provided updates on several of its stars.

Young has missed the last three rounds following delayed concussion symptoms from a training knock, which have proven difficult to shake.

It continued a frustrating injury run for the 25-year-old, who missed four games earlier this season due to a hamstring strain after only playing nine games last year.

While he was still in non-contact training on Tuesday, the club revealed he had made solid progress through the return to play protocols.

“He’s progressed really well. He’ll be a test this week,” director of performance Adam Beard said.

It comes as there was positive news for a trio of important Dockers, with Alex Pearce cleared of any concerns after limping off with a knee issue in their win over Brisbane, while Brennan Cox (knee) and Matthew Johnson (hamstring) are both tests for this weekend after failing to play out the game.

“Johnson got up to good speeds today, so functionally he’s really good,” Beard said.

“Cox got a knock, and unfortunately, we couldn’t get him back into the game after half-time, but same as Johnno, he ran today, and he’ll be a test.”

Caleb Serong is still a week away from his calf strain after his trip to see a specialist in Brisbane, but Justin Longmuir could have a selection headache on his hands with ruck Sean Darcy declared fit for this weekend’s clash against North Melbourne.

Darcy returned to the WAFL at the weekend and edged his battle with West Coast’s Matt Flynn, finishing with 36 hit-outs and six marks in torrid conditions as one of Peel’s best performers in the 22-point win.

It will put the heat on Mason Cox who finished with just five touches against the Lions.

“Sean did really well in some difficult conditions. He looks really good athletically, and he’ll just continue to build,” the club said.

There is still no timeline for Brandon Walker’s return following back-to-back concussions, but he is making progress as the Dockers carefully manage his return.
