Shocked racing participants watched on at Doomben on Saturday as a trainer was revived by medical officials after suffering an apparent heart attack.

The incident happened in the tie-up stalls after race one and races were then delayed.

The trainer was worked on by medical staff and, after grave fears were initially held for his welfare, he left the course conscious in an ambulance.

Racenet has at this stage chosen not to identify the trainer, due to the wishes of his wife who indicated that family members had yet to be informed.
