West Coast have felt the need for speed - and some AFLW premiership intel - after securing a trade for North Melbourne wing Ella Slocombe.

The Eagles gave up Pick 48 in next week’s draft to bring Claremont product Slocombe back to WA, while also picking up a 2026 fourth-round selection that is tied to Richmond.

Slowcombe has played just one game at the top level after struggling to break into a Kangaroos side that has gone unbeaten across the past two AFLW seasons, but is expected to vie for regular opportunities at West Coast.

“We’ve always been fans of Ella, and while opportunities were limited for her at North Melbourne, when she did play she looked extremely comfortable at the level,” Eagles AFLW list manager Jordan Loxley said.

“We were keen to add speed and genuine running power to our squad, and Ella fits that need perfectly.

“This deal also allows us to add an extra pick in next year’s draft, giving us greater flexibility as we head into 2026 and continue to shape our list.”

The move comes as the AFLW’s trade period begins to gather steam, with Fremantle on Monday finalising a deal to bring impressive Melbourne forward Eden Zanker to the Dockers.
