Fremantle stars Adam Cerra and Luke Ryan will miss tomorrow’s pre-season western derby clash against West Coast after sustaining injuries last weekend.

Cerra (calf) and Ryan (back) were both left worse for wear after the practice match against the Eagles at Mineral Resources Park last Saturday and were not included in the 26 for the last game before round one.

Dockers draftees Heath Chapman and Josh Treacy will get their chance to impress after being named on the eight-man bench, while forward Matt Taberner has overcome a quad niggle to line-up at centre-half forward.

Last year’s rising star Caleb Serong has been rested, while midfield duo Darcy Tucker and Connor Blakely have been named in the team as they push for round one.

“Adam Cerra has a minor calf strain out of last week’s practice match,” executive general manager of football Peter Bell said.

“While Adam, Caleb and Luke will sit out Saturday’s clash against West Coast we are expecting all three to be available for round one in two weeks’ time.”

West Coast will get a look at a number of their new recruits, with draftees Zane Trew and Isiah Winder named on the bench, while former Brisbane defender Alex Witherden and GWS forward Zac Langdon have been picked in the starting 18.

Reigning club champion Nic Naitanui has overcome a hamstring injury and will start in the ruck opposite Dockers’ cult hero Lloyd Meek, who is the main big man with Sean Darcy sidelined with a knee injury.

Jack Darling will lead the Eagles’ forward line in the absence of Josh Kennedy (calf), while the midfield will be without superstar Tim Kelly, who is still recovering from a thumb injury.

This gives Xavier O’Neill and former Geelong forward Jamaine Jones a chance to put their hands up for a round-one berth should they impress.

Premiership defender Liam Duggan has been named on a wing as he looks to continue his transition from the midfield.

West Coast will have a few players not in their normal guernsey numbers, with Jones to wear 18 instead of 31, Langdon in 38 instead of seven and Witherden in 45 instead of 23.
