West Coast will be without midfielder Tim Kelly for their clash against Carlton at Marvel Stadium on Saturday after he injured his hamstring at training on Thursday morning.
As revealed by The West Australian, Kelly was sent for scans after he pulled up with a tight hamstring in the warm up of the session and is one of four changes from the side that lost to North Melbourne before the bye.
First-year defender Josh Lindsay has been dropped for the third time this year but is the travelling emergency, while Tom Gross and Harvey Johnston have been sent back to the WAFL.
Kelly’s injury means out-of-contract midfielder Elijah Hewett retains his spot in the 23, while Rising Star favourite Willem Duursma, veteran Jack Graham, half-back Tom McCarthy and forward Jack Hutchinson are the inclusions.
Mid-season draftee Marcus Herbert has also retained his place, with Lindsay the unlucky one to miss out after he racked up 15 touches in the one-point defeat to the Kangaroos.
Graham returns from shoulder surgery after he went down injured in the Gather Round defeat to Geelong, while Jack Hutchinson is back for his first game since the round 10 win against Greater Western Sydney after a hamstring setback.
No.1 draftee Duursma and last season’s top mid-season draftee McCarthy both missed the narrow defeat to North Melbourne prior to the bye because of a calf and hamstring concern respectively.
Wingman Hamish Davis has also been named despite sustaining a concussion before the bye but he has gone through protocols and is deemed fit to play.
Eagles coach Andrew McQualter was full of praise for Duursma ahead of his return which would see him go up against fellow Ron Evans Medal top contender Jagga Smith for the first time.

“I’m excited to see Duursma to play anytime because I love him in our team and I understand the talk around the Rising Star award is what everyone’s referencing. They (Duursma and Smith) might spend some time on each other throughout the game which is great,” he said.
“I think he’s been able to come into an AFL team, first-year, an 18-year-old, play on the wing, play inside mid, be able to influence games in different ways.
“He cares about the defensive side of the game which dare I say is slightly unusual for a No.1 draft pick, but he’s certainly been able to provide some defensive efforts which we’ve shown in team meetings.
“And he’s nowhere near a finished product. He’s got so much growth in him but he wants to be great, wants to help our team be great and we love him in our team.”
Carlton will go into the clash unchanged from the side that beat Greater Western Sydney last weekend, with No.1 key back Jacob Weitering not getting up for the clash as he continues to battle a calf injury.
