West Coast have begun this post-season list cull, delisting ruckman Harry Barnett and wingman-turned-forward Harvey Johnston today.

Barnett and Johnston were among 13 Eagles who were without contracts for 2027 this week and have both found themselves without a deal.

“Harry and Harvey have been committed and popular members of our playing group and we thank them for their contributions to our Club,” Eagles list boss Matt Clarke said.

“They are both quality young men and we wish them every success in the future.”

Johnston played 14 league games in three seasons for the Eagles since he was drafted to the club with pick No.49 in 2023 including a career-best eight this year.

The 21-year-old was recruited as a wingman but was forced to turn himself into a small forward to break into the Eagles’ best 23 this season, with his best performance coming in round 11 against Collingwood at the MCG when he kicked a goal from 13 touches.

Barnett played only two games in four seasons at the Eagles after he was drafted with pick No.23 2022.

The 22-year-old made his debut in round 16 of the 2023 season as the tactical sub with the Eagles forced to call upon the 203cm ruckman because of player unavailability.

Barnett played a second game in round two of 2024, but didn’t get a gig in the AFL side under Andrew McQualter in the past two years.

The South Australian product departs with a unique record, with his 65 WAFL appearance for the Eagles side the most of any AFL-listed player in the club’s history.
