Yet superstar Jhaniele Fowler has sent a warning to the rest of the competition, saying her team’s best is yet to come as they aim for a sixth consecutive win when they take on Collingwood at Sydney’s Ken Rosewall Arena on Saturday.

Fever’s thrilling one-goal win over the previously unbeaten Giants at RAC Arena on Monday launched the WA side into the top four for the first time this season and Fowler, who hit the winning shot after the final whistle, believes Fever can go to another level.

The scoreboard reflects her stance, with Fever having lost their past four first quarters and even had to overcome an eight-goal half-time deficit to get the better of the Giants.

Fowler said Fever would be amazing if they could produce their best netball for a full four quarters.

“I am looking forward to seeing us stepping up in every game,” Fowler said.

“It is evident that we are yet to hit all our straps. I am pretty pleased with the work we’ve done so far, but we have so much more room to improve and we’re looking to see it.

“If teams want to take that as a warning, well so be it.

“I think (Fever’s undefeated streak) is living up to expectations based on the standards we have set ourselves and what we want to achieve. We are very humbled by it as well because we’ve fought very hard to get to where we are given what the first bit our season entailed.”

Fever take on the fifth-placed Magpies at a neutral NSW venue this weekend after their game was moved from John Cain Arena because of Melbourne’s COVID-19 outbreak.

Fowler said the disruption to the fixtures had not affected Fever’s preparation.

“We’ve been dealing with sporadic changes over the past two years, so we’re accustomed to it and move on,” she said.

“Anywhere you go and they have their home crowd, it’s going to be very loud but having no crowd is kind of weird as well. We’ll manage.

“Collingwood is always a strong side. They match up against us really well both in attack and the defensive end, so it’s on us to have a good start so we don’t have to chase anyone down. So we can push on and punish them from the get-go.”
