Since launching Travel Picture of the Week in eTravel last week, our inbox has been flooded with photographs from readers.

Thank you to everyone who has sent through their favourite travel snaps. It’s been wonderful to see the world through your eyes.

From a giraffe at the Kruger National Park in South Africa to climbers making their way up Mont Blanc in France, the variety and quality of images we’ve received has been impressive.

Choosing a favourite was no easy task, but one photograph in particular caught my eye.

Our first Travel Picture of the Week goes to Nola Sumner, who captured this charming street scene in Lisbon, Portugal.

Nola has titled her photograph Shared Space, which seems particularly fitting.

What drew me to her image was not only its thoughtful composition, but the sense of everyday life she’s managed to capture on the streets of Lisbon.

The photograph centres on a building housing two shops, Arte de Portugal and Souvenir Castelo, with three windows sitting neatly above the busy shopfronts.

There’s a lovely sense of balance to the image, with the building’s strong vertical and horizontal lines creating a natural frame for the scene. Yet the composition avoids feeling overly symmetrical or staged. To be honest, the more I look at it, the better it gets. There’s plenty to take in, but nothing feels out of place.

It’s the sort of image that wouldn’t look out of place in the pages of a travel magazine, and a worthy winner of our first Travel Picture of the Week.

TOO GOOD NOT TO SHARE

We received so many wonderful images from readers that we couldn’t resist sharing a few more of our favourites. Here are some of the other photographs that caught our eye this week.
