Man, 36, charged after allegedly groping, threatening women in Melbourne CBD, assaulting officers

A man has been charged after allegedly groping and threatening women in Melbourne’s CBD, before allegedly lashing out and assaulting police during his arrest.
Triple-0 calls alerted authorities to a 36-year-old man who allegedly randomly assaulted women in a sexual manner near the Flinders St steps about 5.30pm on Monday.
Police found the man on Bourke St.
During his arrest, the man allegedly spat at officers and assaulted them.

“A senior constable from Transit Safety Division, who was injured during the dynamic arrest, was taken to hospital for treatment,” a Victoria Police spokesman said.
The 36-year-old was charged with two counts of sexual assault and indictable assault police.
He was bailed and is due to appear before the Melbourne Magistrates Court on May 21.
