WA Day

WA Day Festival is returning to Burswood Park on November 21 and 22 with an impressive free live music line-up bringing together some of Western Australia’s best-known artists as well as local up-and-coming talent. In celebration of the 20th anniversary since their landmark album Black Fingernails, Red Wine, rock band Eskimo Joe will headline the main stage, in addition to Perth brothers Coterie playing their breakout hit Cool It Down. Other highlights include Minang Noongar artist Ricky Neil Jr, indie-pop triplets Birdland and Perth folk artist Clare Perrott. WA golden girl Samantha Jade is also set to perform with OrchXtra. Stylish specs

Country Road and Specsavers have done it again, releasing yet another stylish selection of spectacles in a wide 32-frame collection drop. One of the STM team’s style crushes, fashion blogger and online influencer Elsa Rae, was seen sporting a pair of clear acetate frames and sleek black sunglasses from the collection at Melbourne Fashion Week recently and we can’t help but admire how she styled them. Shop the collection in-store or online at www.specsavers.com.au

AGWA teddies

The most fabulous art in AGWA this November might not be hanging on the walls, rather sitting plush in its Design Store. Fashion students from North Metro TAFE’s knitting unit have hand-knit one-of-a-kind bears inspired by gay icons, each in a bespoke outfit and details of the student’s inspiration story. They’re on sale during Pride month, with a portion of proceeds contributing to the students’ end-of-year fashion parade.

Leedy Artfest

From an art market to a kids’ play space, live music and a comedy room, there is plenty to see, listen to and touch at next Sunday’s Leedy Artfest. Popping up across Leederville, the free event offers the perfect day out, including a Books in the Brewery Sunday session at The Leederville Hotel with four local authors on the couch, and Clay & Cocktails or Watercolour & Wine workshops led by House of Hobby. Focker In-Law

We’re mere weeks away from anticipated film Focker In-Law hitting cinemas (on November 26) and it’s buzzing in the STM office. Resident movie critic Ben O’Shea has his apprehensions for the newest addition to the Meet The Parents franchise, while fashion writer Megan French is hopeful it will land as well as the hilarious first film. The movie features comedy legend Ben Stiller, two-time Oscar-winner Robert De Niro and pop sensation and Wicked star Ariana Grande, who will no doubt steal the spotlight. Bring on the press tour for Grande’s red-carpet looks, set to be styled by the one and only Law Roach. We’re sat for this one!

Bazaar Makers Markets

Hooray — the annual Walyalup Fremantle Arts Centre’s Bazaar Makers Market is returning next month and we’re marking our calendars. It’s brimming with local artisans and, in our opinion, is a perfect opportunity to get some Christmas present shopping done. Among makers, we love Neighbourhood Press’ quirky cards, riso prints and fun fridge magnets, as well as Bethamy Linton handmade jewellery. Check it out on December 4-6 . . . we’ll see you there.
