Princess Royal Sailing Club uoung gun Eden Gray among the points in Flying Fifteens harbour battle

Princess Royal Sailing Club’s star young skipper Eden Gray put his ability on full display again last Saturday, sailing exceptionally well with Flying Flounder to win the Flying Fifteen’s harbour course race.
Four Flying Fifteens competed in the race conducted in ideal weather with an almost gentle south-easterly that never got over the 10-knot mark but enough breeze for quick times around the marks.
Wayne North was quickly away with Frequent Flyer but the equally fast FForever Young, skippered by Simon Lucas, was able to match it.
Aileen Lucas had Crazy moving well and not far off the pace.

Gray, who had his father Benn as crew, trailed the fleet but was close enough to them throughout to still be in with a chance.
North lead for the majority of the race and was first over the line, beating FForever Young.
Next to finish was Crazy, followed shortly after by Flying Flounder, but the results had Gray take the win on corrected time.
Second and fastest of the day was Wayne North in Frequent Flyer, with Crazy and Aileen Lucas taking third place.
Simon Lucas was relegated to fourth on handicap with FForever Young, however will be one to watch in next week’s competition.
A fleet of seven yachts in the mixed keel boats competed for the Waters Cup in a King George Sound race.
Brett Hawker, who had a disappointing race last weekend, was out for vengeance as he surged to the lead quickly after the start and was never seriously challenged.
Stephen Lee in Flasheart was able to stay close to Hawker in Jessie James but eventually fell away.

Josh Hughes, who had a spectacular win with Joker the week before, was struggling and allowed Stephen Brown in Mary Maitland to get ahead.
Neil Worrell was again keen to do well with Zuri, but he too fell off the pace.
Richard Hodgson was a tad late starting with Escapade but did make up ground on Ines skippered by Alastair Knowlden.
These two were too far back to have any chance of a handicap place but would have enjoyed the champagne weather.
Jessie James led the fleet back into the harbour after several marks in the sound.
Brown was the big surprise and was into the harbour having passed both Joker and Flasheart — doing remarkably well with only one crew member.
Jessie James went on to win handsomely and to also record fastest time in a fine effort.
Brown was second and the best of the division two yachts.
Stephen Lee took third place with Flasheart and will also reap a benefit from the race.
