Glenn Smith lead all the way aboard Just Act Natural and won the $30,000 South West Summer Sizzle (1208m) at Bunbury Turf Club yesterday.

Smith’s success in the feature race was one of two winners for him on the day after earlier riding the Grant and Alana Williams-trained Bold Success in the $15,000 Summer Bright Lager Maiden (1208m).

Just Act Natural, trained by Capel’s Paul Roberts, was the $2.40 favourite and beat home second favourite Miss Sondrio.

It continues a good run of form for the horse, who won two trials in Bunbury late last year before running second at Ascot on New Year’s Eve in his last start. South West jockeys and trainers also tasted other success in the Australia Day meet.

Apprentice Kate Witten caused an upset by guiding $23 chance Roll On John to victory in the $15,000 Rangeview Stud Maiden (2109m) while Lucy Warwick was aboard Pigeon Post, who won the $17,500 JCW Electrical Handicap (1690m).

Donnybrook trainer Renae Williams had reason to celebrate when jockey Fiona Bell helped $9.40 chance Secret Bridge win the $17,500 Tabtouch Super Pick Handicap (1108m).
