The Justin Warwick-trained Dubai Escapade is set to ride in a second-consecutive $500,000 Perth Cup (2400 metres) at Ascot on New Year’s Eve.

In the last Perth Cup, the Myalup-based thoroughbred finished sixth with Warwick’s daughter Lucy in the saddle.

A run on the straight after hitting the turn in 16th gave the seven-year-old a respectable finish on the January 2 race.

The chestnut gelding finished sixth last up at Ascot on December 17, with Glenn Smith riding him strong from barrier one.

Dubai Escapade’s last victory was in April, when he won the $100,000 Tattersall’s Cup (2100m).

Lucy Warwick will take the ride in the prestigious race, with the 19-year-old returning from a three-month break in the saddle earlier this month.

Justin Warwick said everything had been going well ahead of the race.

“Hopefully he can finish in the front half of the field,” he said.
