Justin Prentice-trained star Mighty Ronaldo claimed Sunday afternoon’s $50,000 Furphy Bunbury Pacing Cup at Donaldson Park in thrilling circumstances.

The North Boyanup-based four-year-old — who initially had scored by half a neck over Vultan Tin — had his victory confirmed following a dismissed protest from Vultan Tin’s reinsman Mitchell Miller.

This intense ending to Bunbury’s signature pacing event marked a rollercoaster 36 hours for the Bunbury Trotting Club, after the feature was rescheduled from Saturday afternoon due to concerns of lightning.
