The South West Football League has a new leader with decorated goal umpire and board member Jason Crowe set to take over as the general manager.

A statement from the league announced on Friday Crowe will take over from Simone Nani, who last month announced she was stepping down from the role, following a recent board meeting.

Crowe has an extensive background in football, most notably as a goal umpire, having officiated in 1488 SWFL matches including 19 grand finals and serving as the league’s Umpires Association president for 11 years.

In a statement, Crowe said he was excited to be given the role and the responsibilities it entails.

“It is not lost on me the enormity of the position and the inevitable comparisons that will be made to previous persons who have held the General Manager’s role,” he said.
