St John Ambulance urge caution over summer holidays

St John Ambulance WA has warned people to be careful while enjoying what is expected to be a busy holiday period.

Higher levels of alcohol consumption led to 171 people in country WA being treated for intoxication between December 16, 2017 and January 31, 2018.

Parents were urged to make sure children wore safety equipment while using new bikes, scooters, quad bikes or skateboards.

There were 60 country call-outs for injuries relating to the popular gifts in the same period.

There were 28 country call-outs for asthma attacks, 17 for anaphylaxis, 12 for burns and six for dehydration.
