SWFL 2023: Perfect backdrop for Bunbury’s Peter Woods, who shares special performance with family and friends

Bunbury jet Peter Woods had plenty of home comforts during Sunday’s colts grand final against Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault. Aside from playing on his home deck at Payne Park, a big contingent of Woods’ family and friends were in the outer cheering the humble utility on. When notified he had won the KJ Lynn Medal for his best-on-ground performance, the joy on everyone’s face was evident, with his family quick to embrace his excellent achievement. Justin Fris caught up with Woods after the game to get his thoughts on how the grand final played out. Q — Firstly, congratulations. I know Jamie Nani worked hard with you at league level, but playing colts must be pretty fun as well? A — “Yeah, definitely. It’s been good to go up and play league — getting some experience and being around all of the boys. You get to know the game better, before coming back and playing with all of my mates. “It’s my last year of colts and playing with my mates, so it’s even more enjoyable that we got the result that we did.” Q — And obviously family — Seeing them all here today, that’s what football is all about isn’t it? A — “Without my family, I wouldn’t be here. I wouldn’t be able to do anything without them — the support I get from them is unreal.”
