SWFL 2023: South Bunbury stalwart Matt “Trucks” Giacci receives life membership

Matt “Trucks” Giacci and the South Bunbury Football Club go hand in hand like a ball and glove. This statement has officially been ratified, with the Tigers endorsing his life membership nomination during Wednesday night’s club AGM at Hands Oval. Giacci, a devoted father, mentor for young players and active member in giving back to the community at club events, was deeply humbled on receiving the acknowledgement. A man who has achieved almost everything in the SWFL, Giacci’s perspective on the game might have changed, but has passion hasn’t. “Football was the be all and end all,” he said late last year. “I would prepare all week for it and hang around after games until stumps, win or lose, with the boys. “But I guess now it is a little bit different. While you can stay for a few refreshments, you know that once arriving home you are switching back into dad mode. “When you prepare for a game, it’s important to remember there is another young body to look after first and foremost.”
