Although the Harvey Bulls women’s team was defeated by Busselton on Saturday, there were plenty of positives from the performance.

Aside from getting plenty of ball inside their forward line, the Bulls applied excellent physical pressure and made the reigning premiers earn every single disposal.

As has been the case over several seasons, there will be a lot of familiarity in Sunday’s clash against Donnybrook at VC Mitchell Park.

The clash will mark Fleur Parker’s first match against the Dons since returning to the Bulls — while other several players in both sides are friends off field as well.

Without WAFLW trio Bethany Bond, Charli Wicksteed and Lauren Vecchio, the Dons have looked starkly different so far in 2023.

Aside from Lacey Holdsworth (11 goals) providing a reliable presence up forward, other avenues to goal haven’t been as plentiful.

A player to watch in this game is Laura Cheney, who was exceptional for the Bulls on Saturday. Pitted against Emma Borinelli in the ruck, Cheney put her body on the line at all times and didn’t take a backward step at any stage.

This leadership was inspiring to watch and will be critical as the season wears on.
