Plenty of wins
Australia’s 3x3 basketball teams have continued their perfect Commonwealth Games, with our men’s side beating the Cayman Islands 21-9 before the women’s outfit toppled Uganda 21-9.
Over on the green, Australia beat England in their para mixed bowls clash via a tiebreak.
Silver in women’s artistic gymnastics
Much of our attention has been on the pool this evening, but Breanna Scott claimed a silver medal in the women’s artistic gymnastics all-round final earlier today.
The legendary Georgia Godwin finished fifth.
And breathe
The swimming action has now wrapped up for day three.
And Australia claimed another five gold medals, led by Cam McEvoy in the men’s 50m freestyle and Iona Anderson in the women’s 100m backstroke.
Lani Pallister won her second gold medal of the Games in the 1500m freestyle, Tim Hodges furthered his legendary resume in the men’s 100m backstroke S9 and our 4x200m freestyle relay team also got it done.
Another gold in men’s 4x200m freestyle final
And Australia have closed off the third day of swimming at the Commonwealth Games by winning the men’s 4x200m freestyle relay final.
Our swimmers did not have everything their own way as they have in the other relays in Glasgow but Sam Short, Harrison Turner, Ed Sommerville and Kai Taylor still managed to win in 7:01.47.
With plenty of encouragement from coach Dean Boxall on the sidelines, Kai Taylor mowed down England in a stunning anchor leg which helped set a new Games record.
Another gold for Lani in women’s 1500m freestyle
Lani Pallister has continued a stunning Commonwealth Games by cruising to victory in the women’s 1500m freestyle final.
As much as half a lap in front of the field for much of the race, she added the gold medal to her 400m gold and 200m silver with a time of 15min41.03sec.
Australian debutant Molly Walker swum a big personal best of 16:01.37 to claim bronze.

It’s fair to say there’s been a sharp contrast in the last two events at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre, with the women’s 1500m freestyle final now well under way after we just had the men’s 50m freestyle.
Lani Pallister is comfortably in front of the field at the 1000m mark.
What Cam said
We weren’t expecting the first words out of Cam McEvoy’s mouth after winning the men’s 50m freestyle final to be a Marvel reference.
“It feels like I’ve collected all the Infinity Stones,” McEvoy told Channel Seven after being asked how it felt to add a Commonwealth Games gold medal to his world champion, world record holder and Olympic titles.
“It’s a good feeling. I got silver here 12 years ago - I’m over a second faster now than I was back then.
“To sweep the podium with these boys (silver medallist Flynn Southam and bronze medallist Jamie Jack) ... the depth in Australia is amazing.
“I get messages every day from everywhere around the world with really good news on what they’re doing. It’s just really special to play a very small role in the influence of the sport in sprinting.”
Gold for McEvoy!
It’s gold for Cam McEvoy in the men’s 50m freestyle final and an Australian clean sweep of the podium!
The world record holder has filled the only hole in his legendary resume by bursting out of the blocks and flying home to win the event and set a new Games record with a time of 20.79sec.
Flynn Southam was second in 21.44 and Jamie Jack was only fractionally behind in 21.47.
