Kingston prospects look to be Roc solid

Bunbury hoop Kyra Yuill’s remarkable partnership with three-year-old Searchin’ Roc’s continued last Saturday at Ascot after the quality filly won the $200,000 Euroz Hartleys-WA Champion Fillies Stakes (1600m) by a length over Buzzoom. Trained by Serpentine-based David Harrison, Searchin’ Roc’s is arguably one of WA’s best three-year-olds right now and will be primed for a solid showing in next month’s Kingston Town (1800m). Four of the filly’s five career victories have been with Yuill in the saddle and it is not hard to figure out why, given how well they know each other. “I get along with her pretty well,” Yuill said. “Obviously I know her well, because when I go out to the Harrisons’, if she is galloping I work her — and I have obviously ridden most of her runs. “She is a quirky filly. “She is very good in the barriers and obviously comes out quite good. She is quite a hot filly, you could say, but has got stamina and is tough.”
