The Collie Eagles have made the tough decision to withdraw their women’s team nomination for the 2022 season — less than a week out from their opening game against Donnybrook at the Collie Recreation Ground.

In a crushing blow for several hardworking volunteers and coaches who did all they could to make it happen, this is the third consecutive season that the Eagles have been unable to field a women’s team.

SWFL general manager Jason Crowe received the news at 6.30pm on Sunday night. It is believed a number of the registered Eagles players will now either join the Dons or Harvey Bulls.

The league clash between the Eagles and Dons, which was due to start at 3pm, will now get under way at 2.10pm.

More to come.
