AFL: West Coast return to Optus in celebration of 40 years of AFL history and 20 years since their historic 2006 flag, with a win against Richmond non-negotiable.
The Eagles are under massive pressure after a month of thrashings, including a 101-point mauling against St Kilda last weekend.
Richmond comes into the game without a win but will see this clash as their best chance to sing the song for the first time in 2026 with all the pressure on the Eagles.

That’s all for now
There’ll be plenty of fall out from this one but we’ll be shutting down the blog so keep an eye across thewest.com.au for all the latest.
Goodbye for now
McQualter sees the positives
I’m glad someone does.
ANALYSIS
A new low
There have been so low points over in recent times, but West Coast simply had to win this one.
For their fans for the 2006 team for the 40 years of history and they served up another stinker.
Richmond were excellent, they played with dare and without fear and the Eagles weren’t good enough.
Not sure what’s next for the Eagles, but I won’t say it can’t get any worse. They’ve proven plenty of times that indeed it can.
Match Report
Here’s the early analysis
FULL TIME Richmond 15.8 (98) West Coast 13.10 (88)
Boos ring out as West Coast lose another one they have no one to blame but themselves. They recorded 64 inside 50s to 47 but Balta and Vlaustin were rocks down back.
Duursma gave them a chance late but West Coast lost the crucial clearance.
First win for Richmond since their victory against West Coast in round 19 last year. The Eagles won two games in a row earlier this season but I honestly don’t know where they’re going to get another.
Richmond were missing 17 players with injury and lost Prestia in the opening minutes of the game.
Balta best on ground with three goals 20 hit outs and five clearances.
It’s over
Seth Campbell from 45m takes an uncontested mark as Noah Balta is too strong in the middle. It sneaks back late and that’s all she wrote.
DUUURRSMAAAA!!!!
Unbelievable! Eagles have to go quick and Yeo puts it out in space as Duursma collects it on the bounce on the run into the pocket and bends it through.
CRAZY.
Is that the sealer?
Richmond deep in attack, centring kick beats the Eagles flyers and Sonsie is out the back to put the Tigers up by 10 ooints with three minutes to go.
