Scarborough crash: Car left in pieces after man slams into light pole on West Coast Highway

A car has been smashed to pieces after ploughing through a busy intersection in Perth’s north, wiping out a traffic light with the driver remarkably walking away unscathed and with a fine.
The black Toyota was left crumbled on its side and in pieces in the intersection on West Coast Highway and Manning Street in Scarborough about 5.30am on Easter Sunday.

The male driver, in his 30s, was assessed by paramedics but did not require transport to hospital.
West Coast Highway was closed in both directions as emergency services responded to the crash, with Main Roads reporting that the road reopened at 7am.

WA Police said the driver was issued with a traffic infringement, but it refused to provide any further information on what alleged offence had been committed.
Western Power also arrived at the scene to tend to the impacted light pole and flashing traffic lights at the intersection.
It comes after a horror start to the Easter long weekend, with a spate of WA crashes claiming three lives.
Commander Mike Peters of road policing command issued a statement, saying officers remain unequivocal in removing reckless drivers from the road.
Double demerits are in place for the Easter weekend.
