A group of prominent Bunbury businessmen were pushing for a SWFL club to be relocated to the Eaton-Australind region. Two clubs, Carey Park and Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault were touted for the move by former SWFL vice president Ray Jones.
Harvey-Brunswick-Leschenault president Trevor Offer confirmed the Lions would do all they could to ensure another club did not relocate to Australind. "I'm a bit disappointed we have not been involved when somebody has been going off and planning things in our backyard," he said.
The Slammers copped a 119-96 pounding against the Goldfields Giants in Kalgoorlie. With an excellent night offensively, the Giants controlled proceedings from the opening tip-off.
The Midland Flames cruised to a 60-47 win over the Souwest Jets in Northam. The visitors fell behind early, before gradually fighting their way back. Tara French was best on court for the Jets.

Former West Coast Eagles workhorse John Annear played a massive role in AMR's big win over Donnybrook. Annear, who once ran from Perth airport to his old home in Mt Claremont following an away game in Melbourne, left nothing in the tank during a breathless first half.
